Eeya Sombu – Adukku
Description The vessel that is ubiquitous with lip-smacking rasam is called eeya paathiram or eeyam vessel eeyam meaning lead — but is actually made of vellieeyam or tin. Tin is a metal by itself and not an alloy. An excellent olden day refrigerator type vessel. Also an excellent vessel for set curd and boiling milk. Until a few decades ago, vessels made of this material was found in every household. But now, stainless steel and non-stick have come to inform of modernism and the eeya paathram is rarely seen.
