Description On September 11, 2001, deliberate acts of terrorism were perpetrated against the United States of America. As a result of these devastating attacks, 3,000 innocent American lives were lost. Following the tragedy, the world watched in awe as Americans united in historic fashion to disavow the destruction visited upon their nation by a sworn enemy of freedom, promising to forever remember those who perished and to never forget the sacrifice of those who fell in the line of duty. This coin serves as a compelling reminder that the costs of freedom are constant vigilance and a ready willingness to defend the principles for which so many courageous Americans have given their lives. Featured on the obverse is the Pentagon, both of symbol of America’s military and site of one of the 9 11 attacks. Minted on the reverse is the famous patriotic depiction of emergency response personnel draping the American Flag over the wide of the wounded Pentagon. Each coin measures 1.75″ (44mm) in diameter.
